2018 Mid-Season Report

As we pass the halfway mark in our 2018 season, all ten teams continue to battle for the coveted eight playoff positions. Anything can happen as we begin to head toward the homestretch.
Our weather has been very attractive this summer and we certainly hope that this beautiful weather continues.
All players have arrived from the College World Series in Omaha and our ten teams have nearly finalized their rosters as they establish their own team chemistry and balance.
Monday, July 16th is a big day for our players as they get ready to display their talents at Fenway Park in Boston in front of all 30 Major League team representatives. This has proven to be a very exciting day as who wouldn’t want to take batting practice and infield/outfield at Fenway? This is one of the highlights for our players each summer. Last year for the first time ever we were rained out and we hope for wonderful weather on the exciting day.
Our CCBL All-Star Game this year is at beautiful Whitehouse Field in Harwich Center right next to Monomoy Regional High School. The Harwich Mariners serve as our gracious hosts for this special event on Sunday, July 22nd. Game time is 6PM sharp, but show up early for the Home Run Hitting Contest and pre-game activities. This is always a great event for the whole family.
Our playoffs begin on Saturday, August 4th at four different venues. The top four teams from each division square off in the best two out of three series in front of what have always been huge crowds. The winners keep advancing and it’s anyone’s guess who will be left standing with the coveted Arnold Mycock Trophy, emblematic of the CCBL Playoff Champions. Last year, the Brewster Whitecaps were the deserving team to hoist the championship trophy with a dramatic run through the playoffs. The parity in the Cape Cod Baseball League among our ten franchises is amazing and any one of our teams could walk away with this year’s championship.
We hope you will join us out at the ballparks to find out who will be crowned this year’s champion. One thing is certain; the excitement as we head toward the playoffs will be immense! See you at the games!
