Harwich Announces Third Annual Family Fun Day
Harwich, Mass. – Summer time on Cape Cod is all about relaxing and having fun. From whale watches to lazy beach days, the Cape has an abundance of entertainment.
Now, for the third straight year, families can count on one more event to add a little spice to their vacation. Nestled in between three harbors, the town of Harwich is happy to announce their third annual “Family Fun Day.”
On Friday July 17th from 4 – 7PM, volunteers will join the 2009
Harwich Mariners at Whitehouse Field for the event.
The biggest draw is a visit from Red Sox mascot Wally the Green
Monster. Pony rides, cotton candy, face painting and a meet and greet session with Harwich Mariner baseball players are all part of the fun-filled afternoon too.
“It’s definitely a carnival-like atmosphere,” event coordinator Chris
The Harwich Mariners are scheduled to play at 7:00 - so families can stick around and enjoy a night of the best collegiate baseball in the country.
Originally the event was designed as a fundraiser for the new lights at Whitehouse field. But, because of the success of the first “Family
Fun Day,” Harwich could not forgo this special event.
“It was a smashing success the first two summers,” Vice President Jim
McGonigle said. “We are thrilled to continue the tradition.”
The cost of the afternoon is under ten dollars for one adult and one child. The money raised will go toward offsetting the cost of the expensive electrical bills the team has because of the field lights.
Come pose with Wally the Green Monster, nosh on cotton candy, and trot around the park on your favorite pony!
