Kettleers 4, Braves 2: The Cotuit Kettleers picked up right where they left off Friday night, coming away with a Game 3 victory over the Bourne Braves to advance to the Cape Cod Baseball League West Division finals, presented by Rockland Trust.

Cotuit will face the Falmouth Commodores in the best-of-three series beginning Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Guv Fuller Field.

Logan Taylor (Texas A&M) led off with a base hit for Cotuit. Jackson Glines (Michigan) followed with a walk to set up Kyle Holder (San Diego) for a scoring opportunity. Holder produced a run-scoring single to put the Kettleers on the board.

The Braves answered with a hard-hit leadoff double off the bat of Richie Martin Jr. (Florida). Martin came around to score on a two-out single from Zander Weil (Vanderbilt), but the inning ended shortly after as Logan Taylor robbed Blake Davey of a base hit with a quick stab at second base.

An error at second base gave the Braves their only other run of the night. After Blake Allemand (Texas A&M) reached on a double in the fourth, a fielding error with Vimael Machin (Virginia Commonwealth) at the dish allowed the runner to come home and make it 4-2.

It was a game riddled with errors for Bourne. A throwing miscue by the Braves starting pitcher brought in the second run before the fielding error in the fourth inning.

Cotuit’s only other earned run of the night came via an RBI groundout by Holder.

While the Kettleers picked up their runs on shaky fielding from the Braves, Cotuit’s pitching was nothing but solid. Jake Harper (Saint Joseph's), appearing in his first start for the Kettleers, pitched 6 1/3 innings en route to earning the win. Despite tallying no strikeouts, his consistency on the mound gave Cotuit the stability it had struggled to find all season.

Adam Whitt (Nevada Reno) picked up four strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of relief, sending the Braves down in order in the eighth and the ninth.

Bourne's bullpen held Cotuit to just five hits and combined for nine strikeouts, but errors got the best of the regular-season West Division champion Braves, whose playoff run was cut short.
