Be sure to look into the sky during opening ceremonies because there will be an air flyover at Stony Brook Field in Brewster this evening. Plus, many more special honors will begin at 4:30 p.m., including state Rep. Tim Whelan (R-Brewster) throwing out the first pitch.

The Brewster Whitecaps will host the Chatham Anglers at 5 p.m.

The U.S. Coast Guard from Massachusetts and Rhode Island will be honored on the field. Chaplin Lt. Bob Mills will be singing the national anthem. The Brewster Police Department will provide the honor guard, and the Brewster Fire Department will display a giant 30-by-40-inch American Flag.

The Cape Cod Baseball League celebrates Red Shirt Friday each week with the home teams wearing stunning red jerseys at all of the games. This is in support of the national Red Shirt Fridays program, which was created to recognize and support our troops in harm’s way and promote public awareness.
