Field Manager Scott Pickler returns three stars from the 2011 YD Red Sox to Red Wilson Field for the 2012 season.

Southpaw Joey DeNato (Indiana) and right-handers A.J. Vanegas (Stanford), and Zack Weiss (UCLA) will anchor the pitching for the Sox this season. Vanegas finished his spring campaign with a 4-0 record and a 2.62 ERA—behind only fellow teammate and ex-YD Red Sox Mark Appel, who was recently drafted 8th overall in the MLB Draft.

DeNato led his team in innings pitched this spring, and was second in wins for the Hoosiers with a 7-3 record. The sophomore led the Hoosiers in strikeouts with 76 Ks.

Also making the trip from Stanford will be freshman catcher b, left-hander Spenser Linney, and short stop Alex Blandino. DeNato will also find college teammates on the Red Sox roster, with outfielder Chris Sujka and third baseman Sam Travis.

Coming from Boston College will be junior Matt McGovern, an outfielder who led the team in his sophomore appearances with a.371 average.

Florida Gulf Coast’s Sean Dwyer comes to the Cape wielding some well-timed power at the plate, having led his college team in both RBI (39) and doubles (16) this spring. The outfielder and first baseman batted .297 and led his team in slugging percentage (.434) as well for the spring.

The Red Sox open at home on Thursday, June 14th, against the Falmouth Commodores at 5 p.m.
