Red Sox 9, Firebirds 0: The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox were not ready to go home, as they delivered a decisive victory over the Orleans Firebirds in Game 2 of the best-of-three East Division semifinal playoffs, presented by Rockland Trust.

Orleans will host Y-D on Saturday at Eldredge Park at 7 p.m. in the deciding game of the series. The winner will advance to face the Harwich Mariners in the East Division finals.

Walker Buehler’s (Vanderbilt) 7 1/3 inning, two-hit performance kept the Orleans bats quiet as the Red Sox offense, which finished the regular season ranked fourth in hits and fifth in batting average, dished at the plate.

Michael Donadio (St. John’s), Jesse Jenner (San Diego) and Cape League All-Star Jordan Tarsovich (VMI) each had multiple-hit nights for the Red Sox. Donadio, who signed late with Y-D, went 3-for-4 with three runs, including his first home run of the season, while Timothy Wharton (Catawba) started the scoring with a two-run single in the first.

Y-D added two runs in the third and fifth innings, and insurance runs in the sixth and seventh in the lopsided shutout.

Drake Owenby (Tennessee) closed the game out for the Red Sox, allowing no hits and no walks.

With Buehler earning the win, Orleans’ Eric Hanhold (Florida) picked up the loss.

Orleans’ two hits came from Geoff DeGroot (UMass Lowell) and Jerry McClanahan (UC Irvine).
