Anglers 1, Firebirds 0: Chatham edged Orleans to even their Cape Cod Baseball League East Division best-of-three series at one game apiece. The deciding Game 3 is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Eldredge Park in Orleans.

A base hit by Luke Persico (UCLA) loaded the bases and Joey Rodriguez (Wake Forest) followed with a run-scoring single to right field that brought in Aaron Barnett (Pepperdine) for the only run of the game.

Pitching stole the show as Chatham's Parker Dunshee (Wake Forest) was stellar in six innings on the mound. He stuck out eight Firebirds and walked one for the victory.

Dunshee gave way to Brandon Miller (Millersville), who pitched two perfect innings and Aaron McGarity (Virginia Tech) closed out the victory to pick up a save. The trio allowed just a combined three hits and finished with a collective 11 strikeouts.

Orleans starter Eric Lauer (Kent State) was the tough-luck loser, striking out nine and surrendering just one run in five innings. Chandler Blanchard (Pepperdine) pitched the remainder of the game in a scoreless appearance.
