Courtesty of the Cotuit Kettleers

The Cotuit Kettleers and the Cotuit Athletic Association are pleased to announce that all donations collected at the 2017 Cotuit Kettleers vs. Lexington Blue Sox exhibition doubleheader will be donated to the Pete Frates 3 Fund in support of the mission to Strike Out ALS.

The Cotuit Kettleers invite everyone to attend this year’s exhibition doubleheader at Lowell Park on Saturday, June 10, 2017, beginning at 1:00 PM. The entire Kettleers community salutes Pete Frates, his family, Coach Rick DeAngelis and the Lexington Blue Sox organization, for their tireless efforts in the battle against ALS.

This is the third year in a row that the Kettleers have chosen to honor Frates, and support his important mission to raise critical funds for medical research in the fight against ALS.

Frates was a star baseball player at Boston College. In the Spring of 2011, Frates played for the Lexington Blue Sox in the annual exhibition doubleheader against the Kettleers at beautiful Lowell Park. The following March, Frates was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Frates responded by co-founding the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which has raised over $100 Million in donations for the fight against ALS.

In 2015, the Cotuit Kettleers selected the Pete Frates 3 Fund to receive all donations collected at the annual scrimmage to support the mission to K-ALS, and to honor the incredible spirit and drive of a baseball player who played on the Kettleers’ beloved home field in Cotuit.

Please come out to Lowell Park on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM, watch some great baseball, and, more importantly, support the mission to Strike Out ALS!
