March of Dimes and Cape League Partner for Telerama

CAPE COD, Mass. – Come support the March of Dimes Telethon during the Cape League's Rowdy Hour!

     The 37th annual Cape Cod telethon for the March of Dimes will be held on Sunday, Feb 11 from 11am - 10pm. The Cape Cod telethon, the longest-standing telethon for the March of Dimes in the country, has raised hundred of thousands of dollars over the last 4 decades.

     This event is an 11-hour telecast from Bourne to Provincetown with a different business and civic group manning the phones and challenging each other each hour. There is local entertainment twice each hour, and local celebrity hosts emceeing the extravaganza. Dick Sullivan, who has played such an important role in the Cape Cod Baseball League, has been the lead host for all 37 broadcasts. He and the March of Dimes plan to present an award to the Cape League franchise with the most pledge dollars raised.. This presentation will take place at a home game of the franchise's choice in 2007.

     Last year the Cape League raised a total of $4, 633 for their hour. Randy Shepard, CEO of Eye Health Services, was the emcee of the Rowdy Hour. He will again host this final hour and challenge other organizations and businesses to up the ante.

     Babies need your help more than ever since premature births have risen 38% in Massachusetts, alone, in the past ten years.
