Round 1 - Game 2 - August 3
BOURNE 3, FALMOUTH 1
The Braves kept their season alive by winning out in a tight pitcher’s duel. Falmouth took the lead in the fourth, but were shut down from their by Bourne pitching. The Braves did their scoring in the sixth, with two runs coming in on an error followed by an RBI single. Game three of the series will be back in Falmouth on Sunday at 6 pm.
COTUIT 22, WAREHAM 2
After a heart-breaking extra inning loss in game one on Friday, the Kettleers bounced back in a big way, setting the single game playoff scoring record with 22 runs on 18 hits and 11 walks. Cotuit pitching managed to work around 12 Wareham hits to hold the Gatemen to just two runs. The decisive game three of the series will be in Wareham on Sunday at 6:30pm.
EAST DIVISION -
HARWICH 4, CHATHAM 2
Mariners’ pitching had a lot to live up to after a no-hitter in game one, and they did not disappoint, allowing just five hits and punching out 11 Anglers. Harwich did all of their damage in the second inning, with a pair of two-run singles. Harwich advances to the second round with the win and will face Y-D.
Y-D 11, ORLEANS 7
Orleans took control early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. But from there, Y-D’s bats woke up, as they scored in five consecutive innings, with four multi-run innings. Jack Jett got the win for the Red Sox with five innings of relief, allowing just one run on five hits. Y-D will host Harwich for game one of the second round.
