Boston Marathon's Guy Morse to Throw Out First Pitch

HARWICH, Mass.--The Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game Committee announced that Guy Morse of Centerville will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the CCBL All-Star Game held Saturday at Whitehouse  Field in Harwich at 6 p.m.

Morse has been head of the Boston Marathon for the past 28 years and announced his retirement at the end of this year. He was instrumental in building the organization and marathon to where it is today.

It began with 3,000 runners nearly three decades ago and now features 27,000 runners. It's one of the world class marathons. Morse also broke ground with long–term sponsors Adidas USA and John Hancock Financial Services.

When asked about his role in the All Star Game, Morse had this to say,”  "I'm very excited about throwing out the first pitch at the CCBL All Star Game.  I've been involved in sporting event ceremonies all around the world, some exotic, some solemn.  But truthfully this is very special to me because it's celebrates sport at its very best, and is on Cape Cod, my home".

During his 28- year tenure, Morse  also created  a support  program for elite athletes and developed a successful charity program.  The Boston Marathon Charity Program has raised over 100 million dollars for organizations such as the Jimmy Fund and Children's Hospital.

Morse’s daughter, Liz, was an intern for the Cape League “front office” eight years ago.
