WBZ News Radio and the Cape Cod Baseball League Announce
A Second Season of Cape Cod Baseball League On-Line

8-game schedule to be webcast live on wbz1030.com

WBZ News Radio and The Cape Cod Baseball League are pleased to announce the return of the "Cape Cod Baseball League Game of the Week." This unique partnership will present a select number of CCBL games to an on-line audience via the award winning WBZ website (www.wbz1030.com).

The Cape Cod Baseball League “Game of the Week” will seen on wbz1030.com and will be produced by WBZ News Radio 1030, Cape Cod E-Com, and the Cape Cod Baseball League.

WBZ’s Boston Bruin’s play by play announcer, Dave Goucher, will call the games, with John Garner, Jr. of the Cape League returning as color analyst.

"We love the idea of a second season of Cape Cod Baseball on wbz1030.com. It was such a hit last year deciding to report that success this year was an easy decision." said Peter Casey, Director of News and Programming for WBZ News Radio. "We are seriously committed to unique and local programming for the radio station and our website. Baseball on the Cape has been a tradition for many years and it truly deserves a larger audience. We plan to showcase Cape Cod Baseball beyond the boundaries of the Cape and New England for all to see."

Stephen Lipman, Executive Producer of “CCBL Game of the Week” and President of Cape Cod E-Com added "Today's world of live internet streaming is yesterday’s world of 1950's television.”

The Cape League "Where the Stars of Tomorrow Shine Tonight" is the premiere collegiate summer league in the country.

A total of 212 Cape Leaguers are currently performing in the major leagues, including former Cy Young Award winner Barry Zito (Wareham ’97-’98), former MVP Frank Thomas (Orleans ’88), former league batting champion Nomar Garciaparra (Orleans ’93) and current Boston Red Sox captain Jason Varitek (Hyannis ’91 & ’93), World Series MVP Mike Lowell (Chatham ’94), Boston rookie phenoms Jacoby Ellsbury (Falmouth ’04) and Justin Masterson (Wareham ’05-’06) and Red Sox first baseman, Sean Casey (Brewster ’94).

“The Cape League is excited about the chance to partner again with an institution like WBZ,” said Cape League president Judy Walden Scarafile. “We’ve been able to expand our listener fan base throughout Boston, New England and the northeast region.

"We are seriously committed to unique and local programming for the radio station and our website. Baseball on the Cape has been a tradition for many years and it truly deserves a larger audience. We plan to showcase Cape Cod Baseball beyond the boundaries of the Cape and New England for all to see."
