Coca Cola Pitcher and Player of the Week

Aaron Meade, Harwich LHP

The final Coca-Cola Pitcher of the Week of the 2009 Cape Cod Baseball League regular season is Harwich starter Aaron Meade (Missouri State). Meade won his only start of the week, a seven-inning gem against Chatham. Meade did not allow a run and struck out five over the course of the performance, while scattering only four hits.
Meade has been a bright spot for Harwich all year. Over the course of the full season, he is 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA that ranks him ninth a league with a number of outstanding starters. The southpaw was named to the West's All-Star team for the Under Armour Cape League All-Star Game at Fenway Park.
Meade is a sophomore at Missouri State University. This past season, he ranked second on the Bears in wins and ERA, going 9-2, and posting a 3.39 ERA.

Leon Landry, Harwich OF

The final Player of the Week also hails from Harwich. Speedy centerfielder Leon Landry (LSU) secured the honor this week by batting .647 over the course of four games. Landry also recorded a slugging percentage of .706 and an on-base percentage of .667 this week for the Mariners, while driving in four runs.
Landry, who arrived later in the season after helping to lead the Tigers to a national championship at the College World Series, became an immediate contributor for Harwich. He finished the season with a batting average of .364, and his six steals ranked him second on the team.
Landry has become a superb defensive centerfielder at LSU, and a solid hitter at the plate. As a sophomore this past season, Landry snagged two "Play of the Day" slots on ESPN for two spectacular catches against UC Irvine in the Super Regionals. Landry has also shown he is capable with a bat, slugging 12 homers and batting an even .300 this season for the Tigers. Scouts have taken notice of Landry's potential; the Cincinnati Reds selected him in the 36th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft.
