Braves 4, Gatemen 0: Bourne defeated Wareham in Game 2 to clinch their best-of-three West Division series. The Braves advance to face the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the West Division finals. Game 1 of that best-of-three series will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. at Hyannis’ McKeon Park.

Starting on the hill and making his ninth appearance for the Braves was Keegan Akin (Western Michigan). Throwing 4 2/3 innings, Akin finished with three strikeouts, allowed just five hits and walked two.

Kyle Driscoll (Rutgers) came in for relief with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth. Driscoll was able to get David MacKinnon (Hartford) to ground out to end the inning without allowing a run.

Driscoll worked himself out of another bases-loaded jam in the sixth after catching Andrew Calica (UC-Santa Barbara) looking for the final out.

Driving in all four runs of the evening, CJ Chatham (Florida Atlantic) put the Braves up early with a three-run home run over the left-field fence in his first at-bat in the top of the first. He struck again in the top of the eighth with an RBI single to score McKay and make it 4-0 Braves.

Chatham finished the night 2-for-4 while Peter Alonso (Florida) and Brendan McKay (Louisville) each went 2-for-4 as well.

Taking the loss for the Gatemen was Brett Hanewich (Stanford), who struck out six over six innings, giving up three runs, five hits and a walk. Jeff Schank (Butler) pitched three innings in relief, allowing one run, three hits and a walk and striking out one batter.

The Gatemen put the ball in play but struggled to drive in runs. Collectively, Wareham hitters were 1-for-14 with runners on base against Akin. The Gatemen also stranded the bases loaded twice in the bottom of the fifth and sixth. Andrew Knizner (N.C. State) and Gavin Stupienski (UNC-Wilmington) each went 2-for-4.
