Firebirds 10: Anglers 1: Third baseman Bobby Dalbec (Arizona) belted two three-run homers to power Orleans past Chatham in the deciding Game 3 of the East Division series on Tuesday night at Eldredge Park. The Firebirds advance to the best-of-three East championship series against Y-D beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. back in Orleans.

Dalbec's first three-run shot came in the first inning to give the Firebirds the lead and they never looked back.

Jeremy Martinez (USC) sent a solo shot over the fence in the third, and an RBI single by Daniel Pinero (Virginia) later in the inning made it 5-0. Kyle Lewis (Mercer) and Willie Abreu (Miami) crossed the plate in the bottom of the fifth to extend the Firebirds’ lead to 7-0.

Corbin Burnes (St. Mary’s) held Chatham hitless through four innings and allowed just one run on four hits in 6 ⅔ innings.

Outfielder Joey Rodriguez (Wake Forest) singled to give the Anglers their first hit of the game in the fifth inning, but they couldn’t get much going all night with runners on base.

Trenton Brooks (Nevada) drove in Chatham's only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh when he singled to score Zach Short (Sacred Heart).

Dalbec's second three-run homer in the eighth put the finishing touches on an offensively dominant night for the Firebirds.

Ty Damron (Texas Tech) recorded his first loss of the season for the Anglers.
