Orleans center fielder, Jimmy Herron, entered last night’s game leading the 1st Place-Firebirds in multiple hitting categories, including games played (32), batting average (.371), hits (43), doubles (9) and runs scored (23). Herron lead the East to victory with his clutch hit in the 7th that brought in the two, ultimately game-winnings runs. The Duke center fielder had a great 2017 with the Blue Devils, posting a .326 average and 75 hits in his 230 at-bats. The New York Yankees selected Herron in the 31st round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Although his team could not walk away with a win last night, Griffin Conine earned All-Star West Division MVP honors, after going 2-4 with a two-run homer in the 3rd. Conine has been dominant all season for Cotuit, entering the All-Star Game with a .309 batting average in his 123 at-bats, and leading his team in hits (38), homeruns (8), and RBIs (27). In his past season at Duke, the right fielder started all 58 games, and recorded 65 hits, 56 RBIs, and 13 homers, posting an average of .298. Conine received All-ACC Second Team honors, and was selected for the 2017 College Home Run Derby.
