CCBL 6/16 League Round Up

Sunday’s matchups will feature a double header for each team. Get ready for a full day of baseball!

Bourne (2-2) at Brewster (2-2)

Brewster exploded offensively collecting eleven hits and scoring six runs to take down Bourne 6-1. On the other side, Bourne could not get much going with the bats thanks to a strong effort from Brewster’s pitchers. A huge night from the Whitecaps’ Conor Grammes, who added a home run and a double, helped drive in three of the six runs. Bourne will throw Andrew Saalfrank for their 4:00 PM game against Chatham, then play the second game of the double header at 7:00 PM. Brewster will throw Connor Manous today when they travel to McKeon Park in Hyannis at 3:00 PM, then the rematch at 6:00 PM.

Falmouth (2-2) at Yarmouth-Dennis (2-2-1)

The Commodores had a stellar night from their pitchers, and were able to throw a combined five-hit shutout to top the Red Sox 8-0. Matthew Canterino started for Falmouth and went six strong innings while allowing just two hits. The bullpen was able to continue the trend and shut down the Sox to cruise to an easy victory. The bottom of the order did all the damage, accounting for all the RBI for the Commodores. Falmouth will host Harwich today for a double header at 3:00 PM, and will have Patrick McGowan on the bump. The second game will be at 6:00 PM. Yarmouth-Dennis will give Nathan Wiles the nod in Cotuit at 2:00 PM, then Chandler Fidel at 5:00 PM.

Wareham (4-1) at Harwich (2-3)

Harwich handed the Gatemen their first loss of the season at home last night, holding them to no runs and winning the ball game 2-0. Despite striking out eleven Mariner hitters, Wareham was held to just four hits on the night thanks to great pitching from the Mariners staff. Tanner Morris drove in both of the lone runs in the game, coming in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the sixth. Wareham will start Joseph Matulovich today when they host Orleans at 4:00 PM, Zach Hart for the 7:00 PM game. Harwich has Zack Hess going for the Mariners at Falmouth at 3:00 PM, and Kyle Brnovich for the 6:00 PM start.

Hyannis (2-2) at Chatham (2-2-1)

The Anglers scored all ten runs in the first four innings, including a great night at the plate by Blake Sabol. Along with their offensive explosion, Chatham used two pitchers for the game, Troy Miller and Dan Hammer. They both combined for eleven strikeouts and just two walks and four hits. Hyannis will host Brewster today at 3:00 PM and they will start Ryan Pepiot then Jordan Fowler at 6:00 PM. Chatham travels to Bourne and will hand the ball to Alek Manoah at 4:00 PM, then Jack Conlon at 7:00 PM.

Cotuit (2-2) at Orleans (1-3)

Orleans was able to score early in the bottom of the second with a two-run home run from Spencer Steer. Cotuit answered quickly with two of their own in the top of the third with a home run off the bat of Jonathan Robertson. Then, in the top of the fourth, Adam Oviedo hit a grand slam to score four more. Orleans was held to no runs after the second, leading to a Kettleers win of 6-2. Today, Cotuit will start Anthony Veneziano against Yarmouth-Dennis at 2:00 PM, then Bryce Jarvis at 5:00 PM. Orleans will pitch Riley Ornido when they travel to Wareham at 4:00 PM, and for the 7:00 PM game they will call on Josh Hendrickson.
