Nick Gonzales (Cotuit/New Mexico State): For the second time this season, Gonzales was the top hitter in the Cape League. He tallied ten hits including three home runs and two doubles for a 0.435 average on the week. Nick got a hit in every game this week except for one, when Cotuit's game was called for darkness in the bottom of the 9th inning while he was in the batter's box with the bases loaded and his team down by 4. He was also hit by 2 pitches to bring his league leading total to 7. He is one of two qualified hitters in the league with more walks than strikeouts.

The Springfield, Massachusetts native needed just 56 pitches to set down 15 consecutive Red Sox, 7 via strikeout. The performance lowered his ERA to 2.77. Bourne Braves pitchers now hold the top 4 spots on the CCBL ERA leader board.
