Video Tributes to John Wylde

The death last February of John H. Wylde leaves a huge void in the operation of the Cape Cod Baseball League as well as in the hearts of his many friends throughout the baseball world.

John's life was celebrated at a memorial service in April at Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass. It was a solemn occasion, with the large gathering reflecting on the passing of their friend, mentor and colleague, but it was also an event that clearly showed the esteem in which John was held among the scores of young players who wore the Gatemen uniform during his 25 years as the team's president and general manager.

Though saddened by the task, the Cape League decided that an appropriate way to honor John's memory was to gather reactions and comments from some of those former Wareham players who are now playing on baseball's grand stage, the major leagues. Their words were recorded and the resulting outpouring of condolences to John's family was assembled into a DVD which was shown at a reception following the memorial service.

With love and gratitude, we now make this video tribute available for all to see.
