Andrew Lang Named President of the Cape Cod Baseball League

Cape Cod, MA. – Andrew Lang has been named the President of the Cape Cod Baseball League. The official decision came Wednesday night, from the CCBL’s Board of Directors.

Lang will become the 12th President in the history of the CCBL, taking the reins from Chuck Sturtevant who served as President of the Cape League from 2015 through 2022.

“I am very excited to have Andrew take over the reins of the league. With his experience, I know he will do a great job,” said Sturtevant.

Lang has been involved in the Cape League since 2013, when he began as an Assistant General Manager for the Wareham Gatemen. He served as the General Manager of the Wareham organization from 2015 through 2021. During the 2018 season, Wareham finished 25-17-2, 1st in the Western Division, and would go on to win the organization’s ninth Cape League championship.

Lang took over as President of the Wareham organization in 2022, following the retirement of longtime CCBL volunteer Tom Gay. During his year as President in Wareham, average attendance for home games increased by 74% compared to 2021. Additionally, Wareham hosted the 2022 All-Star Game, putting on an outstanding experience for over 5,500 fans.

“I’m really honored to have been voted in as President of the Cape League and I look forward to working with all ten of the franchises,” said Lang.

“My number one goal is to maintain the Cape League as the best collegiate summer baseball league in the country, and I will be working hard with all of our stakeholders to ensure that.”

Andrew Lang earned a B.A. in History at the University of Southern Maine and played baseball during his four years there. After graduation, he played minor league and independent league baseball until he entered Fordham University School of Law and earned his J.D., while also serving as an assistant baseball coach with the Rams. He has been admitted to the bar in New York and Massachusetts, having worked in both the public and private sector.
