CCBL’S Dick Sullivan Inducted into First Cape Cod Senior Softball Hall of Fame

CHATHAM, Mass. – Dick Sullivan has been inducted the inaugural class of the Cape Cod Senior Softball Hall of Fame, in recognition of his softball accomplishments, sportsmanship, teamwork and dedication to the game.

     The personable Sullivan was inducted during the 25th anniversary banquet of the Cape Cod Senior Softball League along with Joe Cassidy, founder and first Commissioner of the Cape Cod Old Timers Softball League and Gerry Hachadourian, an original league member who played third base on several divisional championship teams.

“We’re very proud of Dick Sullivan’s recent induction into the Cape Cod Senior Softball Hall of Fame,” said CCBL President Judy Scarafile. “He and his teammates and other league members have served as an inspiration to us all.”

Sullivan, an active member of the Cape Cod Senior Softball League for 22 years, played first base on several divisional championship teams and was an original member of the 70's travel team, initially sponsored by Cape Cod Five and now Back Office Associates. 

Sullivan, former dean of students at Cape Cod Community College, became player/manager of the 70’s travel team in 2004, which won it first national championship in ’05. He was named to the All Tournament Team that same season.

The Chatham, Mass., resident led his team to the world championship in 2008, along with four national championships.

He is the only person to have served as both commissioner and president of the Cape Cod Baseball League and is a member of the Class of 2002 Cape League Hall of Fame, as well as the North Quincy High School Basketball Hall of Fame, Sullivan served as dean of student services for several years at both Cape Cod Community College and Hofstra University and is a founding member of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce sports advisory council
