Cape League Web Site Bats a Million

BOURNE, MA -- Following the release and review of web site statistics provided by the Cape League's new web server ISP and league sponsor, CommuniCom and Communica (Bourne), the League is excited to announce its web site received more than 1.1 million hits in June.

The average number of hits www.capecodbaseball.org received on any given weekday in June was 41,789. On its most active day, the web site received 58,682 hits. With more than 18,000 unique visitors for the month, pointing to more than 308,000 page views, the Cape League web site is proud to server our local and Internet baseball fans.

In an effort to help prepare the 116-year-old Cape Cod Baseball League for a smooth transition into the 21st Century, the league shifted gears 14 months ago and put forth a strong and decided effort toward revamping its official web site, www.capecodbaseball.org.. Since that time, the league has worked diligently to update the site at least weekly during the off-season and daily during the season with news, content and information important to baseball fans. With much thanks to Sportsticker.com, the league's official scorers and Cape Cod baseball League Official Statistician John Wylde, player and team statistics are updated on the site each morning and offered free of charge to fans and web site visitors.

In addition, the site has accumulated an ever increasing archive of professional photographs and has made a continued attempt to provide fans with stories, player profiles, coverage of special games and much more. In its latest effort, www.capecodbaseball.org has incorporated mini-biographies and photos of the Coca Cola Player and Pitcher of the Week to run in conjunction with its This Week in Baseball section. Other items of interest include individual photo pages of players from each franchise and photographs from league-affiliated special events. The web site has also kept an archive of prior years' photos, statistics and stories for those wishing to check on the history of the game.

Cape Cod Baseball League Treasurer and Web Master Steve Wilson and Web Site Editor Sean Walsh maintain the web site. Walsh also serves as the league's official photographer.
