Scarafile was selected for her many behind-the-scenes volunteer efforts and success with the nation's premier collegiate baseball league.

Scarafile has been a volunteer for the CCBL since 1970. From October of 1991 to the present, she has served as the League's President. This job involves overseeing the operation of the CCBL, specifically the off-the-field business, finances and special events; working as a summer baseball league liaison with Major League Baseball and the NCAA. Judy was instrumental in establishing the 11-year partnership with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Cape Cod and the CCBL at the All Star Game, a project that began in 1991.

She also co-chaired the Pride in Cape Cod campaign, organized by the Cape Cod Chamber and coordinated a league-wide effort to clean-up, paint and plant on Cape Cod. As a result, the League won the Pride in Cape Cod Award in May 2000, recognizing the CCBL as the organization with the greatest economic impact on Cape Cod.

  • Some of Scarafile's other accomplishment include:
--- Co-chaired Warner Bros.' Summer Catch premier in August '01 which was the single largest fundraising event in the history of the CCBL

--- Organizing an Alcohol and Smokeless Tobacco Awareness Program for CCBL players (this effort is done in conjunction with three community organizations)
--- Spearheaded and Organized Strategic Planning Committee currently reviewing CCBL

  • Her efforts and tireless work for the league have increased the visibility of this valuable Cape Cod asset. Ms. Scarafile was recently elected to the Board of Trustees of the Yawkey Foundation where she is serving as the chair of the Grant-making Committee.

  • In addition to her activities for the CCBL, her other volunteer efforts include:
--- Disaster Relief Volunteer for the American Red Cross
--- Marine Animal Standing Network - worked on location for several whale strandings
--- Assists with bi-annual attic sales and Holly Fair at St. Mary's Church
--- Volunteer for annual NCAA Division III baseball tournament
--- Volunteer for Celebrate America even in Hyannis
--- Volunteer for Housing Assistance Corporation events

  • Scarafile has been recognized by:
--- Certificate of Achievement from US Army Recruiting Command
--- Award of Distinction from Mass. Baseball Coaches Association
--- Selected by John Hancock to be one of four members electing and presenting the Roberto Clemente Award on the field at Fenway Park
--- Honorary Chairperson Pops in the Park concert, guest conductor of the Cape Symphony

--- Steve Lembo Memorial Award, New York Professional Baseball Scouts Hot Stove League for "dedication, hard work and love of the game."
--- National Amateur Baseball Woman of the Year
