CHATHAM, Mass. - The U.S. Military All-Stars will visit Chatham, Mass., on June 11 to take on the Chatham Anglers in the Founder’s Day Game, part of Chatham’s tri-centennial celebration.

The Anglers and Veterans Field will host the U.S. Military All-Stars as part of their 23rd annual “Red, White & Blue Tour,” during which the All-Stars will visit 45 states and three countries to promote awareness and support of our Wounded Warriors.

Chatham’s Founder’s Day will include a full day’s worth of activities, beginning at 9 a.m. outside the Chatham Community Center to begin a procession down Old Main Street at 9:30 a.m. and a time capsule from the town’s 250th birthday will be opened at 3 p.m.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. and will be preceded by a special patriotic Ground Zero Flag ceremony honoring two of the Chatham’s very own hero’s, John Newton and Charlie Thoms.
For several years beginning in 2005, the U.S. Military All-Stars played a pre-season Cape League All-Star team before the start of the regular season and pre-game ceremonies including honoring local veterans.

The U.S. Military All-Stars feature members of the armed forces, first responders and dependents.
Considering the team’s unique situation, as Chatham A’s manager John Schiffner explained, “many of those guys can get a call to duty during the game, we’ve seen it happen during previous visits to the Cape Cod League.”

The atmosphere in Chatham will be one of celebration and patriotism. The Chatham Town Band will be on hand to perform and fans will enjoy a fireworks show after the game. The post-game celebration will continue at the Red Nun Bar & Grill where the fans and players from both teams, including offensive lineman Nick McDonald who is suiting up as a celebrity player for the Military All-Stars, can participate in an All-American BBQ meal.

The Cape Cod Baseball League’s regular season begins June 14 with games at Wareham.

The modern U.S. Military All-Stars were founded as the U.S. Navy Baseball Club in 1990 by now-retired U.S. Navy Commander Terry Allvord, who’s established over 40 single-service armed forces teams around the globe.

Tryouts are held every year to form the most talented military and first responders team to compete as the U.S. Military All-Stars during the annual "Red, White and Blue Tour."

The team features active duty, reserve, Veterans, Delayed Entry Program and First Responders. The continuation of two wars has limited availability of armed forces players.

As a result, beginning in 2010 the team became known as "US Military All Stars" allowing a limited number of former MLB, current professional, summer collegiate and first responders an opportunity to join the tour.

Players interested in the military and willing to support the mission pay their own expenses while off-duty to compete against the finest professional, independent and summer collegiate programs in the world.
