HYANNIS, Mass. – Commissioner Paul Galop has announced the 2013 Cape Cod Baseball League schedule.

The regular season begins Wednesday, June 12 with a full slate of five games, preceded by the annual Frank Finn/CCBL Invitational preseason tryout on Saturday, June 8 at Spillane Field in Wareham. There are no scheduled doubleheaders again this summer.

"The real beauty of the schedule will be the convenience for our fans,” said Galop. “Every team is home at least one weekend day every weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday. The balance is superb where every team has 11 home games and 11 away games in both the first and half halves of the season.”

The Hyannis Harbor Hawks will move their home games at McKeon Park up to 6 p.m., joining the Bourne Braves’ starting-times at Doran Park. Wareham will begin its Sunday games at 5 p.m., while Harwich and Falmouth Sunday home contests start at 5:30.

The CCBL All-Star game is slated for Saturday, July 27 at Red Wilson Field in South Yarmouth.

The Cape League playoffs begin Thursday, August 6 and for the fourth straight year will involve eight of the 10 league teams. Once again, playoff games at non-lighted fields will begin at 4 p.m., allowing more working fans to attend playoff games. Games at lighted fields begin at 7 p.m.

All rounds will be best two-out-of-three, which enables each team to be guaranteed at least one home playoff game. The championship round will match the East and West division playoff winners.

A total of 296,099 fans attended Cape League regular season games in 2012, with an additional 3,812 fans at the All-Star game in Harwich and over 30,000 attendees during the CCBL playoffs.

It was the first All-Star game held on Cape Cod since 2008, as past the previous three years the game was hosted by the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The 2012 game was the 25th competition between the East and West divisions since the format was adopted in 1988.

The Cape League executive committee has instituted a 12-inning curfew for all regular season games with player-safety a paramount issue. There will no established curfew for playoff games.

“Traditional rivalry games are still in place around the Fourth of July, as well as the final weekend of the season,” Galop said. “This is an extremely attractive and fan-friendly schedule”
