Thursday featured a full slate of games around the league.

Chatham at Brewster

Chatham’s pitching staff put together an incredible effort as three pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout. The staff’s performance plus a very solid night on the offensive side, including a three-run homer from ASU’s Spencer Torkelson, helped the Anglers top the Whitecaps 8-0. The teams will switch home fields and play each other in the late game slot at 7:00 PM.

Notable Performances:

Chatham

    Cody Bradford (Baylor): 4.0, 0 R, 2 H, 6 K, 1 BB
    John Rave (Illinois): 2-4, 2 RBI, R

Brewster

    Paul Witt (VCU): 2-3

Harwich at Hyannis

Hyannis was able to put together a big four run fifth inning to cruise to a 5-3 win over the Mariners Thursday evening. The Hawks’ bullpen was able to come together and hold off Harwich to just three runs and collectively striking out ten. The middle of the order for Harwich did most of the damage accounting for six of the teams ten hits, but it wasn’t enough for the win. Hyannis will travel to Cotuit for a 5:00 PM start and Harwich will host Y-D at 6:30 PM.

Notable Performances:

Harwich

    Danny Casals (Maine Orono): 2-4, 2 2B, 1 R, RBI

Hyannis

    Braden Comeaux (Rice): 2-4, RBI
    Pedro Pages (FAU): 2-4, 2 R

Falmouth at Bourne

The Commodores took on Bourne where the Braves scored three of their five runs in the first three innings. Scattering ten hits throughout the night and putting together a good night defensively, the Braves took the win over the Commodores 5-2. Falmouth will have Mitchell Stone on the mound to face the Gateman tonight at 6:00 PM and Bourne will give Austin Pope the nod to host Orleans at 6:00 PM.

Cotuit at Wareham

A very impressive start by Wareham’s Mason Feole helped the Gatemen take home the win against the Kettleers at Spillane Field last night. Wareham scored two in the sixth and eighth inning to seal the deal. Wareham is now 3-0 through the first three games of the season. Cotuit will host Hyannis at 5:00 PM and Wareham will have Justin Glover on the hill in Falmouth to face the Commodores at 6:00 PM.

Yarmouth-Dennis at Orleans

The final game of the night was a good one. Despite three errors from Orleans and the Sox rallying late, the Firebirds won 5-4. Orleans’s 3-4-5 hitters compiled four hits and drove in all five of their runs. Yarmouth-Dennis’ bullpen minimized damage and held Orleans at bay after the fifth inning, but it just wasn’t enough. Y-D will have Karl Kauffmann pitching at Harwich tonight at 6:30 PM and Orleans will travel to Bourne where Kevin Milam will get the start against the Braves at 6:00 PM.
