6/26 Cape Cod Baseball League Round Up

Bourne (7-6-1): 10 at Brewster (3-11-1): 9

The Braves and Whitecaps had a shootout on Tuesday night, scoring a combined nineteen runs and twenty six hits. Both teams had four run innings; Brewster’s came in the fourth inning, and Bourne scored four in the fifth and eighth inning. The score was 9-8 going into the ninth inning. Bourne was able to take the lead 10-8. Brewster fell short of a comeback after getting one back in the bottom of the inning.

Harwich (8-6-1): 10 at Cotuit (7-6): 3

Harwich hit the ball all around the park against Cotuit, including three doubles and two triples. For Cotuit, they also hit the ball well, but could not drive any runs in after leaving nine men on base. Mariner’s starter Garrett Stallings had a great six inning start, giving up just one earned run and striking out seven Kettleers. This was backed by a fourteen-hit effort by the offense to cruise to an easy victory on Tuesday night.

The Red Sox jumped out of the games quick and put up six runs in the bottom of the first, followed by a three-run second inning. This was all Y-D needed, after Orleans was only able to rally in the third for three and one in the eighth. Orleans’ pitching could not figure things out after allowing eighteen hits on the night, including six doubles and a home run off the bat of Andrew Daschbach.

The Hawks were able to grab an early lead three-nothing in the first three innings. They exploded for five in the fourth inning, including a two-run RBI single from Eric Rivera, then a three-run blast from Pedro Pages. Wareham was able to get one back in the top of the fifth, but thats all Hyannis’ staff was allowing. Nicholas MacDonald gave a strong effort in his five innings pitched, giving up the only run on seven hits.

Falmouth scored their only two runs in the top of the ninth inning by way of an error and fielder’s choice to take a 2-1 lead. Chatham responded with a solo shot off the bat of Kyle McCann to bring the game to extra innings. After a scoreless tenth inning from both ball clubs, Falmouth scored two runs in the top of the eleventh after a wild pitch to Maverick Handley scored Kyle Stowers from third, then a solo long ball the next pitch.
