7/22 CCBL All-Star Game

The Cape Cod All-Star Game took place on Sunday night at Whitehouse Field, home of the the Brewster Whitecaps. It was a dark, rainy day, but thanks to many volunteers and hard work, the All-Star Game activities were able to be completed including player signing tables, the home run hitting contest, and the game itself.

Arizona State’s Carter Aldrete put on a show for the fans before the game, displaying great power by claiming the 2018 Cumberland Farms Homerun Hitting Contest in his Orleans Firebirds uniform. He defeated Sun Devil teammate Spencer Torkelson, who also had a great showing of power during the contest.

East: 3

As for the ball game, West came out swinging early. Matthew Barefoot singled in the first and was driven in by Spencer Brickhouse on a double to left field, scoring Barefoot. Kyle Stowers singled in Brickhouse to take the 2-0 lead in the first inning. The West was able to keep the East off the board to allow their two-run fourth inning happen which featured back-to-back solo jacks from Brickhouse and Stowers to take a 4-0 lead going into the fifth inning. After a scoreless fifth from both clubs, East finally got on the board in the sixth thanks to a couple of errors which allowed them to cross two runs. Tristin English singled for the East in the seventh inning to score Quin Cotton and make it a one-run ball game, but both teams went silent for the final two innings, ending in a West victory with the score of 4-3.
