June 25 – Chatham’s Rick Wysocki strikes out 14 in a 13-3 win over Wareham.
July 1 – Hyannis slugger Jeff Ledbetter hits a pair of home runs including a grand slam and seven RBI to help beat Falmouth, 19-9
July 15 – Chatham manager Ed Lyons wins his 240th game to become the Cape League’s all-time winningest coach as the A’s beat Cotuit, 8-7.
July 15 – Wareham erupts for a pair of ten-run innings, the second and fifth, to go on to a 24-15 marathon over Harwich. Wareham was also issued 17 walks and both teams had five errors each making ten for the game
July 17 – Alan LaBoeuf has seven RBO leading Falmouth to a 22-11 win over Harwich.
July 27 – The Cape League All-Stars beat the Atlantic Coast League, 10-9 at Yankee Stadium. Cotuit’s Ron Darling is named the MVP of the game.
July 31 – Wareham scores 13 runs in third inning to beat Yarmouth-Dennis, 16-4.
Aug. 3 – Harwich outlasts Cotuit 12-11 in a 13-inning game
1981
June 27 – Orleans’ Wade Rowden hits three home runs in a 9-6 win over Wareham.
June 28 – Trailing Orleans 9-1 in the second inning, Yarmouth-Dennis rallies for a 12-10 win.
July 11 – Get out the calculator – Falmouth beats Y-D, 21-13
July 20 – At Fenway Park, the Cape League All-Stars and Atlantic Coast plays a 4-4 tie in a game ended by rain in the tenth inning. Orleans’ Wade Rowden was the game MVP.
Aug. 1 – Harwich scores 12 runs in the third inning of a 21-7 win over Yarmouth-Dennis.
1982
June 18 – Harwich’s Tony LaCava is hit by pitches in three consecutive at bats on pitches thrown by Falmouth’s Brad Powell.
July 4 – Yarmouth-Dennis’ Joe Olker has six hits including three home runs in an 18-3 win over Falmouth.
July 5 – The day after Joe Olker hits three home runs, Orleans’ Mark Graham has three round trippers in an 8-7 win over Chatham.
July 7 – In the longest game in Cape Cod Baseball history, Falmouth beats Chatham 7-6 in a game that goes 17 innings. The record has since been broken as Harwich beat Orleans 3-2 in a 20-inning game in 2003.
July 11 – In 14 innings, Orleans beats Harwich, 4-3.
July 24 – Hyannis beats Wareham, 2-0 to snap the Gatemen’s 12-game winning streak
July 26 – The Atlantic Coast Baseball League beats the Cape Cod All-Stars 5-2 at Yankee Stadium with Bill Ashford of the ACBL chosen game MVP.
Aug. 1 – Wareham erupts for 22 hits in a 28-13 win over Harwich.
Aug. 7 – Cotuit’s Terry Steinbach sets league record for hits (72), doubles (17) and ties the mark of 54 RBI with Wareham’s Mike Lopez.
1983
June 14 – Yarmouth-Dennis legendary coach Red Wilson picks up his 200th career win with a 9-6 win over Orleans.
June 29 – Hyannis outlasts Orleans 7-5 in a 15-inning game
July 8 – Cory Snyder of Harwich hits three home runs to lead his team to a 6-1 win over Wareham
July 10 – Wareham’s Bill Cunningham strikes out 17 Falmouth batters in a 23-0 win over the Commodores.
July 11 – For the second time in four days, Cory Snyder hit three home runs in a game as Harwich routed Chatham, 22-5. Snyder tied Tim Teufel (1979) for most home runs in a season with 16.
July 12 – The balls continue to fly out of the park as Chatham’s Bob Larimer hit three home runs in Chatham’s 10-9 win over Falmouth.
July 25 – Cape League All Stars beat the Atlantic Coast Baseball League, 6-2 but Jamie Sims of the ACBL was named MVP.
Aug. 4 – Cotuit scored 14 runs in the second inning in a 20-5 win over Hyannis.
Aug. 7 – Harwich slugger Cory Snyder hits his record 22nd home run of the season in a 3-2 win over Hyannis
Aug. 9 – Due to a lack of players, Wareham pulled out of post season tournament, giving Cotuit a bye into the finals.
Aug. 10 – Cotuit’s Greg Lotzar is named league MVP
1984
June 13 – Wareham manager Mike Roberts picks up his first managerial win over Hyannis, 3-2
June 14 – Yarmouth-Dennis route Hyannis, 22-9
June 14 – Falmouth’s Dave Nash hits for the cycle in his team’s 16-2 win over Harwich
June 16 – In a game that goes 13 innings without a winner, Wareham and Orleans play to a 3-3 tie
June 22 – Harwich hurler Terry Wells strikes out 16 in an 8-1 win over Hyannis
June 24 – Orleans edged Hyannis in a 13-inning game, 6-5
June 26 – U.S. Olympians beat CCBL All-Stars, 5-4 at Veteran’s Field Chatham on Oddibe McDowell’s two-run homer in the top of the ninth. Barry Larkin, Cory Snyder and Will Clark also play for the Olympians.
July 1 – In the third 13-inning game of the season, Harwich beats Orleans, 4-2.
July 5 – Y-D ends a 14-game losing streak with a 7-4 win over Hyannis 4
July 12 – Falmouth’s Ed Lyons picks up his 300th win in a 16-9 victory over Yarmouth-Dennis
July 23 – The Cape League All Stars beat the ACBL All Stars 7-3 at Veteran’s Stadium in Philadelphia with Harwich’s Mike Loggins the game MVP
