Rays 8 - Dodgers 7 (Series Tied 2-2)

In one of the wildest endings to a game in World Series history, the Tampa Bay Rays have tied the series up at two games each. With two outs and two runners on, Brett Phillips stepped to the plate for the Rays looking to tie the game up. Phillips lined a single into centerfield bringing around the tying run. After Chris Taylor (YD ’11) bobbled the ball in the outfield, Randy Arozerena tried to take advantage and score all the way from first base. Arozerena tripped on his way to the plate and it appeared he would be out with ease at the plate, until he wasn’t. Dodgers catcher Will Smith (Brewster ’15) dropped the throw from Max Muncy (Wareham ’10) and as the ball rolled away, Arozerena slid into home plate. The game was back and forth between the two teams all night, featuring five lead changes and a World Series-record eight consecutive half innings with a run scored. Justin Turner (YD ’05) gave the Dodgers an early lead for the second straight night, with a solo home run in the first inning. The homer from Turner made him the all-time leader in postseason home runs in Dodgers history. The Rays will look to carry momentum from their walk-off victory into the pivotal Game 5 Sunday night.
