to be Presented by Banks of Cape Cod

ORLEANS, Mass. – For the second straight year, the Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game is presented by the Banks of Cape Cod.

The Cape League’s 42nd mid-summer classic is presented by the Banks of Cape Cod, including Fleet, Banknorth, Citizen’s Bank and Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank. Other supporting banks include Compass Bank, The Community Bank and Cape Cod Cooperative Bank.

“We’re pleased to have the leading banks of Cape Cod support our annual classic,” said CCBL President Judy Walden Scarafile. “The Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game is one of the best attended events of the summer on Cape Cod, annually attracting approximately 6,000 people. We also draw 150 major league scouts and media from around the country. Eldredge Park in Orleans is one of the most scenic venues in the USA, as deemed by Baseball America.

Forty-four of the nation’s top collegiate players will showcase their talents at the Cape League All-Star Game, which will be played Saturday, July 24 at Eldredge Park in Orleans beginning at 6 p.m. Pre-game festivities begin at 2.

The game will be preceded by Baseball Factory Home Run Hitting Classic at 4:30 p.m. Last season, Cesar Nicholas (Vanderbilt) of the Orleans Cardinals captured the slugging contest with a total of 22 circuit clouts, including 13 in the finals, before the CCBL’s mid-summer classic in Falmouth.

Last year, the East squad rallied from a 1-0 deficit to earn a 3-1 win over the West by scoring three runs in the ninth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Sean Gamble (son of former MLB slugger Oscar Gamble) of Y-D.

The CCBL All-Stars will be selected by the 10 field managers at Marvin Showroom Training Center at Shepley Wood Products in Hyannis on Monday and will be announced later that day.

The Cape League All-Star Game will be broadcast live on PIXY 103 (102.9 FM) and also on Free Teamline (www.capecodbaseball.org) beginning at 5:45 p.m.
