Derek Bender (Coastal Carolina University) of the Bourne Braves has been named the T-Mobile Player of the Week. Bender slashed .579/.636/.895 for a 1.531 OPS in 22 plate appearances. Bender tallied three extra base hits, three walks, four RBI, and three stolen bases in his five games played throughout the week. The Bourne Braves went 4-1 in these five games and averaged seven runs per game.

Bender gave the fans in Bourne a show on Friday, June 23 as he hit for the cycle against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. He also drew a walk and stole a base in that game. No player in Major League Baseball has drawn a walk and a stolen base in a game where they hit for the cycle since 1925, and only three players have done it since 1901. Bender joins Matt Shaw and Richie Shaffer as the only Cape League players to hit for the cycle since 2011. He also had 2+ hits in four of the five games he played in, and reached base safely in all five.
